Sheepishly Adorable

Say “Hello” to Hootie! I can’t tell you how happy I am with this little guy, who measures just 2 1/2 inches tall. He’s my first-ever needle-felted critter, but more importantly, he was 100% crafted from the wool of our own sheep!

It has been a goal of mine for years to take the wool from Ben & Jerry (our two Olde English Babydoll Southdown sheep) and do something with it. But, for too many years, the fleece has spent the winter in a bag in the garage, only to be added to the compost pile the following spring (yes, wool is compostable…after all, it’s a natural fiber!).

This year, I vowed it would be different! The wool sat in bags in the garage from the shearing in April until last month (September), when I finally took the plunge.
