In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a big fan of repurposing things, and mosaics are one of my favorite ways to do just that! Many of the tiles used in the mosaics around here come from our local Habitat for Humanity Store…a place where contractors and remodelers donate their leftovers. Habitat sells them for a good price, making money to support their great work. It’s a win, win, win!
This mosaic workshop uses an old cabinet door (bought at Habitat) as the substrate (base) of the art. Cabinet doors come in all sorts of sizes and designs and it’s fun to pick out ones that scream, “Cover me with tile and baubles and make me beautiful, again!”.
Unless you’ve done mosaics before, you won’t be starting with something as adventuresome as my mushroom-sitting elf with mirrored wings. He’s a project for a seasoned pro. But I have lots of other patterns to choose from, or you can bring one of your own (children’s coloring books are great sources)
This is a multi-sessioned workshop and a project you can work on during open-studio time (see calendar for open-studio dates and time).
Workshop Time: 3 hours x 3 sessions Fee: $49.00
